Acne isn’t a difficulty that magically disappears when you reach 20. Even though it’s considered of as a teen skin problem, many grownups — in fact, most adults — endure at least casual outbreaks of acne. The dermatology and beauty manufactures have taken notice of those defaces over the past few years and are changing the number of adult-acne items they offer. The ingredients aren’t much dissimilar from those in treatments directed at teens, but makers say adults are ready to expend more money even if they have less pimples.
Clinique last fall set up its Acne Solutions line, a three-step scheme similar to its classic skin-care sets, but bearing anti-acne ingredients. “In talking to our own experts at the (retail) counter, mature clients complain of acne … and that led us to one of our main endeavors of the last five years,” according Tom Mammone, executive director of inquiry and development at Clinique, who says many studies backed the concept that more grownups say they have acne. Peter Scocimara, CEO with Therative, the company that manufactures the ThermaClear heat-based, anti-acne system, says he initially thought the system would be marketed principally to teenage boys, but that adult ladies have turned out to be the main user.
